A&O Shearman has advised Fastned on its up to EUR200 million new green financing

A&O Shearman has advised Fastned on its up to EUR200 million new green financing
This new green loan facility consists of an initial EUR100m of committed capital debt to fund the further rollout of ultra-fast charging stations in Belgium and Switzerland over the next three years. In addition, there is an uncommitted accordion option of an extra EUR100m for expansion to other countries.

This transaction marks a significant milestone for our client Fastned, a leading European fast-charging company, and highlights what our firm does best: cross border and cross practice work. Together with Homburger on Swiss law, A&O Shearman Belgium and A&O Shearman Netherlands advised on finance, real estate, permits, notarial matters, corporate, tax, employment, and international capital markets (ICM).

The new green loan facility represents a third pillar of financing for Fastned, alongside its ongoing retail bond program and its equity listing. Adding long term bank financing as a third pillar allows Fastned to further diversify its funding while increasing flexibility in how growth is financed across its fast-growing international network. A&O Shearman also advised Fastned on the first two pillars, underscoring the depth of our long-standing relationship.

In addition to our relationship with Fastned, we worked closely with the ING Advisory team.

“Electric mobility requires ultra-fast charging stations across a network that does not stop at borders."

“It’s been a privilege to assist Fastned in putting an international financing together that doesn’t stop at borders either and instead enables Fastned to further grow its European charging network at an even higher pace.”

This cross-practice and cross-border matter was led by partner Zeeger de Jongh and Cees van Ginneken, supported by a wider A&O Shearman team comprising the ENRI Finance (Netherlands) group—Baljit Singh, Simon Heerschop and Lisa Pirovano; the ENRI Real Estate (Netherlands) group—Pieter Tieskens, Marjet van Bezooijen and Helen Queis; the ENRI Notary (Netherlands) group — Arwien Oemrawsingh and Philip Zwijnenberg; the English Banking team—Rob de Kort; the Tax (Netherlands) team—Rens Bondrager, Tim de Raad, Wessel Grunewald and Pim Haccou; the ICM (Netherlands) team—Jonathan Heeringa, Rik Coomans and Evy Tuijn; the Employment (Netherlands) team—Arnold Keizer and Ali Sahraïfar; the Corporate (Belgium) team—Esther Remy, Jasper Clarys, Alexander Pirard and Leen Elewaut; the Finance (Belgium) team—Filip Tanghe, Matthias Purnal and Antoine Bertrand; and the Tax (Belgium) team—Klaas Backaert and Hanne Nelissen.
