A&O Shearman secures dismissal with prejudice for SSR Mining in securities class action

The lawsuit followed the February 2024 landslide at SSR Mining's Çöpler gold mine in Turkey and alleged that the company and certain executives violated federal securities laws by misrepresenting the company's safety practices and failing to disclose purported risks at the mine.

In September 2025, the court granted A&O Shearman's motion to dismiss, finding that plaintiffs had failed to satisfy federal securities law pleading requirements. After plaintiffs filed an amended complaint, A&O Shearman again moved to dismiss.

In August 2026, Chief Judge Daniel D. Domenico dismissed all claims with prejudice and closed the case, holding that plaintiffs failed to allege particularized facts supporting a strong inference of scienter.
