A&O Shearman assists sellers on sale of Chicago Parking Meters
A&O Shearman has represented the funds managed by Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners, together with Allianz and a wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, on the sale of Chicago Parking Meters to funds managed by Stonepeak.

Chicago Parking Meters is a public-private partnership responsible for the operation, management, and maintenance of Chicago’s on‐street metered parking, with more than 38,000 metered parking spaces.

The transaction represents a milestone for Chicago Parking Meters, one of the largest on-street metered parking systems in the country. Since 2009, Chicago Parking Meters has invested heavily in modernizing the city’s parking system by installing state-of-the-art electronic pay stations, establishing a 24-hour customer service center, and introducing the ParkChicago® app.

“We are pleased to support this landmark sale, which builds on our involvement with Chicago Parking Meters dating back to 2009, when we helped our clients negotiate the original concession for the system. It demonstrates our team’s fluency in M&A involving businesses operating under concessions, as well as our expertise in complex sell-side mandates.”

The A&O Shearman team was led by New York-based Energy and Infrastructure partners Kent Rowey and Simon Clark, alongside associates Rebecca Dresner, Nathan Bodger, Lucas Volfneuk, Breyhana Johnson, and Henry Nowland. Specialist support was provided by partners Noah Brumfield on antitrust, John Hibbard on tax, Brian Jebb on employee benefits, Keren Livneh on IP, and Ken Rivlin on environmental and sanctions; counsels Jason Rothschild and Maria Christopher Bell; and associates Kiko Demetriou, Austin Grossfeld, Jacob Ely and Sarah Umstadt.
