A&O Shearman advised gategroup, the world’s leading airline catering and food services provider, throughout all stages of its successful refinancing of its existing facilities with a CHF1.4bn equivalent financing package.

The transaction involved a complex cross-border structure spanning multiple jurisdictions, including Switzerland, Luxembourg, and the United States. It comprised both euro (EUR675 million) and U.S. dollar (USD500m) term loan tranches, a CHF300 million multicurrency revolving credit facility, and was priced at the tighter end of the original guidance.

The new financing package significantly enhances gategroup’s financial flexibility, enabling the company to pursue its long-term strategic goals and drive its ongoing transformation initiatives. With operations spanning 60 countries and more than 200 locations, gategroup is now better positioned to capitalize on growth opportunities and reinforce its leadership in the global airline catering and food services sector.

This refinancing marks gategroup’s debut in the cross-border syndicated leveraged finance market, highlighting the company’s ability to tap into a broad range of capital sources. The transaction also underscores A&O Shearman’s deep expertise in advising on complex, cross-border financings for multinational clients.
