Tom Hutten

Associate

Tom specialises in banking and finance law matters.

He has represented both borrowers and lenders, in and out of court. Tom helps clients manage strategic and reputational risks, particularly in their interactions with stakeholders, including regulators and society.

His expertise covers general private law, trade law, as well as restructuring and insolvency law. He holds a PhD in secured transaction law.

Tom joined A&O Shearman from a major Dutch bank, where he was an in-house counsel for the asset-based finance department.

Experience

Representative matters

Tom has handled a variety of matters, such as impending insolvency situations of (large) corporates, terminating sensitive business relationships and litigating in bankruptcy proceedings.

Pro bono

A&O Shearman collaborates with JINC to promote equal opportunities and connect disadvantaged students with professionals who help them to pursue their dreams. Tom helps to support and enable young people to discover their talents.
