Hai is a highly experienced partner with over 15 years of advising clients, including Vietnamese conglomerates, banks, and major corporates, on a wide range of complex legal matters.

His practice focusses on financing, capital markets and M&A transactions. He is also known for his deep knowledge of the Vietnamese market and his practical approach to problem-solving. Hai has played a key role in numerous high-profile cross-border deals, helping clients navigate both local and international legal landscapes with confidence.

Hai’s expertise is widely recognized by leading legal directories and he is a sought-after speaker with numerous publications to his name on corporate governance, capital markets, and the Vietnamese legal framework in respected publications such as Corporate Governance Review, Infra Asia, Asian Power, and Asian-Mena Counsel Magazine. 

Hai began his career as in-house counsel for PetroVietnam Transportation Corp., followed by private practice with the Ho Chi Minh City office of a US law firm and a top Vietnamese firm. Hai joined A&O Shearman in 2025.

  • Vingroup/VinFast on the corporate restructuring and listing of VinFast, its EV subsidiary, on NASDAQ.
