Dr Achim Schmid

Counsel

 Achim advises on a wide range of M&A, corporate and regulatory matters particularly in the insurance sector.
 
With his broad experience, Achim assists national and international market participants with domestic and cross-border transactions and reorganisations, particularly in the form of share deals, asset deals and transformations such as mergers and split-offs. He works intensively with clients regarding regulatory matters such as governance, outsourcing, investments and distribution. He is well experienced in insurance contract law, particularly in life insurance.
 
Achim regularly advises on portfolio transfers, both intra-group and in the context of run-off transactions by specialized platforms and investors. His area of practice covers, both in life and non-life, the establishment and licensing of insurers, reinsurers and insurance distributors, the inbound and outbound passporting of regulated business activities and reinsurance Solutions.
 
Another focus of his work is advice in connection with the transfer and carve-out of pension liabilities, predominantly in the context of transactions. Achim has specific experience in Contractual Trust Arrangements (CTA) securing occupational pension schemes.
