Transatlantic A&O Shearman team advises on one of the UK’s stand-out AI exits

A&O Shearman has advised Sequence HQ Ltd (Sequence) on its sale to Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq: INTU) (Intuit), the global financial technology company.

Sequence is an AI-native revenue management platform that helps B2B finance and commercial teams automate the full quote-to-revenue lifecycle, including deal configuration and pricing, billing, invoicing, collections and revenue recognition. Based in London and New York, Sequence serves finance teams at high-growth software and services companies, including some of the fastest-growing AI companies in the world.

Headquartered in Mountain View, California, Intuit serves approximately 93 million consumers, small and mid-market businesses and accountants worldwide through products including TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks, Mailchimp, Intuit Enterprise Suite and Intuit Accountant Suite.

Sequence was founded in 2021 by Riya Grover and the transaction caught headlines in a number of jurisdictions with The Times recognizing it as one of the largest UK AI exits by a female-founded business.

“Sequence’s sale to Intuit is a great example of the transatlantic technology ecosystem at work: a UK-founded business building important AI capabilities and a global US platform eager to take them to market at scale. These are exactly the kinds of transactions where understanding both sides of the Atlantic matters.”

A joint London and Chicago team ran the deal, led by partners Valentine Bleicher (Chicago) and Will Samengo-Turner (London), senior associate Charlotte Rowlandson (London) and associate Ben Eastman (Chicago) with support from counsel Taylor Melching (Chicago), and associates Alexandra Hopkinson (London), Griffin Clark (Chicago), and Ximena Miñan Vega (London).
