A&O Shearman represents Reflex Media and Clover8 Investments in trademark infringement jury trial win against SuccessfulMatch.com

A&O Shearman represents Reflex Media and Clover8 Investments in trademark infringement jury trial win against SuccessfulMatch.com

A&O Shearman, along with SF Firm LLP, represented Reflex Media, Inc. and Clover8 Investments PTE Ltd. in winning a Lanham Act trademark infringement jury trial verdict against SuccessfulMatch.com.

Reflex Media operates the luxury online dating service Seeking.com (“Seeking”), while its sister company, Clover8, holds the IP for the brand. Seeking—widely regarded as the premiere luxury dating site in the world with more than fifty million members—alleged that rival SuccessfulMatch.com targeted Seeking for widespread trademark infringement through online advertising, social media posts, and dozens of counterfeit websites that copied five Seeking service marks and redirected customers to defendant SuccessfulMatch.com’s competing websites.

On August 26, 2025, a jury in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California unanimously concluded that SuccessfulMatch.com had infringed all five service marks. The jury also unanimously found SuccessfulMatch.com liable for inducing infringement and for contributory infringement.

The A&O Shearman trial team was led by partners Saul Perloff and Patrick Hein, and included litigation attorneys Andre Hanson, Kathy Grant, Trey Hebert, Shaobo Zhu, Lauren Beebe, and Petar Nalbantov. The team was assisted by co-counsel from SF Firm LLP, including Mark Smith, Jacob Fonnesbeck, and Joseph Schaeffer.
