A&O Shearman represents Dubai Aerospace Enterprise Ltd on its acquisition of Macquarie AirFinance

Global law firm A&O Shearman has advised Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) Ltd on its acquisition of Macquarie AirFinance for an approximate enterprise value of USD9 billion.

DAE, a global aviation services company headquartered in Dubai, now has a fleet of approximately 1,000 owned, managed, and committed aircraft. The owned and managed fleet is on lease to over 175 airlines in over 75 countries. In addition, DAE has commitments to acquire approximately 150 aircraft from Boeing, Airbus, ATR, and trading counterparties.

Firoz Tarapore, Chief Executive Officer at Dubai Aerospace Enterprise, said: “We are delighted to have completed this transaction. We are very grateful to the A&O Shearman team for their outstanding efforts in advising us on the deal and working tirelessly to achieve completion. Throughout they have shown strong client focus, commercial awareness and industry expertise. We trust them with our largest and most commercially sensitive transactions, and see them more as an extension of our team than an external adviser.”

The cross-practice team was led by partners Paul Nelson and Hugh Robinson, who were supported by associates Paul McKay, Sheryl Tan, and Gurveena Hare.

Tax advice was provided by counsel Gareth Banfield and associate James Eggleston. Antitrust advice was provided by partner Pieter Huizing and senior associates Pauline van Sande and Bernadette van der Blij. The wider team consisted of colleagues across our international offices.
