A&O Shearman advises La Caisse on its stake in Stago
A&O Shearman has advised La Caisse (Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec) on its entry into exclusive negotiations with Stago, a global leader in diagnostics and a specialist in hemostasis, as part of its plan to acquire a stake in the group. La Caisse would invest as part of a consortium led by ARCHIMED, a healthcare-focused investment firm acting as the majority investor.

This transaction would provide Stago with the resources needed to accelerate its growth strategy while reinforcing its technological and scientific leadership, building on the recognized expertise of its teams.

The transaction is expected to be finalized in the second quarter of 2026. It remains subject to the information and consultation process with Stago’s employee representative bodies, as well as required regulatory approvals.

Alexandre Ancel, partner at A&O Shearman, comments: “We are pleased to support La Caisse in this strategic transaction alongside ARCHIMED, bringing together our cross-disciplinary expertise and deep understanding of the life sciences sector.”

The A&O Shearman team was led by partner Alexandre Ancel and counsel Julie Parent, with associate Jérôme Païs on M&A aspects, partner Charles del Valle and senior associate Ageu Pires on tax aspects, partner Laurie-Anne Ancenys and associate Thomas Feigean on IT/data aspects, and partner Charles Tuffreau and consultant Marianne Delassaussé on intellectual property aspects.
