Two years on: the EC’s conclusions on the DMA so far
The key requirements of the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) have been in effect for two years now and it is time to take stock. 

At the end of April, the European Commission (EC) published its first review of the regime. The EC considered whether the DMA has met its two key aims: fairness and contestability in digital markets and what (if any) updates are necessary. 

The EC calls out growth in innovation and user choice, as well as additional opportunities for businesses and developers, as tangible benefits. On that basis, it considers that the DMA currently remains fit for purpose with no current need for wholesale revision. That said, targeted improvements may follow.
