Tomson has experience in advising on a range of complex restructuring, insolvency and other financing matters including advising creditors in cross border restructurings.
During his training contract, Tomson gained comprehensive exposure to a variety of practice areas, such as derivatives and structured finance, new money financing, corporate mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, and arbitration. This diverse background enhances his ability to collaborate effectively with wider AOS teams, including the banking, debt capital markets, and derivatives and structured finance teams, as demonstrated in deals such as Sino-Ocean and Shimao.

Experience

Representative matters

  • Advised members of a coordination committee of bank lenders on the holistic restructuring of the offshore debt of Sino-Ocean Group Holding Limited, the listed holding company of a group engaged in residential development, real estate development and operations, property services, and full-chain construction services primarily in the PRC.
  • Advised a co-ordination committee of lenders on the successful restructuring of over USD11.5bn in offshore debt for Hong Kong-listed Shimao Group Holdings Limited. This landmark restructuring was achieved through a court-sanctioned Hong Kong scheme of arrangement.
  • Advising a group of syndicated lenders on the restructuring of the offshore debt of a Hong Kong listed company specializing in providing gen-sets and power generation systems to clients in different industries. "
