Sarah (admitted in New Zealand) is in the Corporate Insurance team.

Sarah advises on a range of transactional and regulatory matters for insurers, reinsurers and other participants in the global insurance industry.

She has experience in insurance M&A, longevity de-risking, and insurance regulation. 

Prior to joining A&O Shearman, Sarah was a solicitor at a leading New Zealand law firm, where she gained experience in financial services regulation and funds management. Sarah advised on a broad range of financial services regulatory matters for New Zealand financial institutions. She also has experience in structuring New Zealand private equity and venture capital funds.

Representative matters

  • Ageas on the acquisition of esure Group from Bain Capital. The transaction, valued at GBP1.295 billion (EUR1.510bn), marks a significant milestone in Ageas's strategic expansion in the U.K. personal lines insurance market.
  • Cinven’s Strategic Financials Fund on its acquisition of a 50% interest in Policy Expert, one of the UK’s fastest growing insurance businesses, from its current owner, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA).
  • The Trustee of the BT Pension Scheme on its GBP5bn longevity swap with RGA.
