Sara advises national and international companies in complex, partially multi-jurisdictional internal investigations.

Her work spans matters triggered by ongoing regulatory or governmental proceedings as well as proactive internal reviews conducted on a preventative basis, and extends to the design and implementation of subsequent remediation measures.

She further acts for clients in commercial and corporate litigation before state courts, in both domestic and cross-border settings. Her practice in this area concentrates on contentious matters that arise out of internal investigations and on the fact-finding work required in complex litigation scenarios.

She also provides comprehensive legal guidance and advocacy for both local and international entities as part of the resolution of disputes.

Representative matters

  • Cross-border internal investigation for an international bank on tax-driven so-called cum/ex transactions and coordination of approach towards public prosecution office, tax and regulatory authorities.
  • Conducting a comprehensive internal investigation for a public body on possible conflicts of interest arising from compliance-relevant relationships between employees and direct as well as indirect business partners. Furthermore, advising on restoring a proper compliance culture in this respect.
  • Internal investigation for an international medical technology and healthcare group regarding allegations of potential breaches of accounting standards.
  • Conducting an investigation for the audit committee of the Supervisory Board of an international bank regarding a whistleblower report on various compliance issues including, among others, bullying, discrimination and other topics related to work culture as well as non-compliance with policies. Furthermore, advising on potential remediation measures to improve the compliance culture.
  • Conducting an internal investigation for an internationally operating machinery manufacturer in the renewable energy sector in connection with allegations of violations of trade secret laws.
