Peter Stastny
Peter is a leading public law expert in Slovakia specializing in complex antitrust, State aid and regulatory matters.

He regularly represents clients in administrative litigation and possesses deep sectoral expertise in energy and telecom. Peter also has significant experience in public procurement and FDI. He recently secured a European Commission an in-depth investigation into Slovak State aid in the telecom sector - only the third such investigation against Slovakia.

Peter chairs the American Chamber of Commerce's Public Procurement Task Force and is a contributor to the AmCham Rule of Law initiative. He is also committed to pro bono work, focusing on rule of law, anti-corruption and human rights. He regularly shares his expertise by lecturing on legal writing.

Representative matters

  • Západoslovenská distribučná and Východoslovenská distribučná in a large number of disputes concerning energy regulation in Slovakia including, in particular, in relation to recent significant interventions of the regulatory authority in the business of the ZSE Group and the VSE Group. In particular, we are representing ZSD and VSD in 60+ court disputes where the producers of electricity from renewable sources are claiming reimbursement of a regulatory tariff called the “G-tariff”.
  • A subsidiary of a global retail company in proceedings opened against a global retail company, other retailers and one supplier for alleged resale price maintenance in the market for dairy products. This is one of the Slovak Competition Authority’s recent high-profile investigations into a very consumer-sensitive sector.
  • O2 Slovakia on regulatory and competition aspects of requests by its competitors to provide national roaming.
  • SPP-distribúcia, a gas distribution network operator in the Slovak Republic, on the competition law aspects of allocation of credit risk between gas suppliers and the distributor system operator.

Pro bono

  • Representing Mr. Tomáš Bálint, an activist and event organizer from Rimavská Sobota, Slovakia, who publicly criticized the former member of the National Council and current mayor, in an unfair dismissal case due to a public criticism of the former member of the National Council and mayor of Rimavská Sobota, Slovakia.
