Oliver's work involves acting for funds, corporates and state-owned enterprises on a broad range of transactions including on domestic and international M&A, joint ventures, commercial contracting as well as regulatory and advisory work across the hydrocarbon, chemicals, and renewable energy value chain.

Oliver was seconded to BG Group where he worked on a range of corporate matters in relation to their hydrocarbon and power assets. Oliver has also performed the role of acting general counsel to Murphy Oil Corporation’s UK downstream businesses. Oliver was on secondment to the firm’s Amsterdam office from September 2016 until January 2017.   • TotalEnergies on a number of matters including on the acquisition of Tullow Oil's interest in the Lake Albert Development Project and on the acquisition of ENGIE’s portfolio of LNG assets.
  • A Crown corporation on its acquisition of Shell’s upstream interests in the Corrib gas field.
  • Exolum on its acquisition of Inter Terminals from Inter Pipeline.
  • A multinational energy corporation on the sale of the 75,000 bbl/d Whitegate oil refinery to Irving Oil.
  • Gunvor Group in respect of its acquisition from TotalEnergies of an interest in the Total Parco fuel retail joint venture, in Pakistan.
Renewables:
  • Masdar on its purchase of a 49% stake in the Dogger Bank South offshore wind projects from RWE AG.
  • Omnes Capital on the acquisition of Integrum Renewable Energy, a battery storage and solar PV developer.

  • LyondellBasell on its investment in and offtake arrangements with Quality Circular Polymers, a polymer reprocessing plant in the Netherlands.
  • An integrated energy and chemicals company on its acquisition from Neste of its global NEXBASE base oils business.

Pro bono

  • Oliver has been leading the firm in London in its response to the Ukraine crisis, including setting up a project to second lawyers to refugee reception centres in Poland to provide legal support.
