He heads the loans practice and co-heads the insolvency and restructuring practice in Bratislava.

Matúš provides clients with inventive and practical approaches to address complex financing transactions. He has experience advising on various transactions including general corporate finance, leveraged finance, project finance, real estate finance and financial leasing.

He has advised clients during formal and informal solutions for the financial difficulties of debtors, including work-outs, formal restructurings and bankruptcies.

Representative matters

  • Slovenské elektrárne in relation to the entire loan portfolio of EUR 4.3 billion, which culminated in advisory on the refinancing of a loan portfolio of EUR3.6bn—the largest financial transaction in Slovakia to date.
  • Penta Hospitals International on the EUR150m syndicated loan financing provided by eight banks. The transaction spanned the entire CEE region which we were able to cover from our offices in Bratislava, Prague and Warsaw.
  • Tatry Mountain Resorts on a public share offering worth EUR120m (one of the few Slovak and regional IPOs in a long time) and subsequent refinancing, totaling EUR 290 million.
  • Erste Group Bank on the refinancing of the Aupark Bratislava shopping center in the amount of EUR 229.5m, a record acquisition on the Slovak real estate market.
  • Syndicate of Czech and international banks in relation to EUR640 million senior secured facilities provided to SAZKA Group and its subsidiaries.
  • Commerzbank on EUR460m project financing for U.S. Steel Košice.
