Representative matters

  • Advising a national petroleum and natural gas company on its proposed acquisition of a significant stake in an independent retail fuels business.
  • Two global energy companies in relation to disputes arising in relation to oil blocks in a South East Asian State. The claims involved two commercial arbitrations under production sharing contracts against a State Owned Oil Company and a parallel investment treaty claim against the State. The claims settled following USD800m payment to our client in early 2021.
  • INPEX, in relation to separate proceedings in the Supreme Court of Western Australia commenced against CAR and EAR insurers, seeking in the order of AUD $3 billion in recovery under relevant insurance policies in respect of damage to certain paint and insulation on the Ichthys LNG Plant.
  • Australian LNG joint venture on the preparation and conduct of an LNG Price Review.
  • OreCorp on its proposed takeover by Silvercorp Metals, initially via a scheme of arrangement under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) (which included a placement of new fully-paid ordinary shares of OreCorp issued to Silvercorp to raise AUD28m), which evolved into an ongoing takeover bid by Silvercorp Metals and a competitive takeover bid by Perseus Mining Limited.

  • Street Child participating in the Education Out Loud Initiative, an education advocacy project focusing on the education of vulnerable children in South Asia.
