Joe has extensive experience in a wide range of finance transactions covering both conventional and Islamic finance, with a focus on real estate finance, corporate finance, acquisition financing and sovereign debt.
He advises lenders (both senior and mezzanine) and borrowers and has a particular expertise in multi-jurisdictional finance transactions.

Experience

Representative matters

The syndicate of lenders on an AED17bn conventional and Islamic financing to Nakheel PJSC which was secured against a portfolio of properties located in Dubai.

A group of regional lenders on USD1.5bn syndicated dual tranche (Islamic and Conventional) financing to Aluminium Bahrain. Subsequently also advised on its refinancing. This was one of the first sustainability-linked financings in the region. 

The lenders in connection with a USD350m conventional financing of Tabby, the buy-now-pay-later firm. 

Dubai Taxis Corporation in connection with an AED1.2bn Islamic murabaha facilities agreement for the purposes of its listing. 

The lenders in connection with a USD585m receivables financing arrangement to a sponsor based in Kuwait.

 

 

Pro bono

Advised families of their right to a disability living allowance in the United Kingdom on behalf of the National Deaf Childrens' Society.

Assists Maternity Action with advising individuals with respect to their maternity rights during employment.
