Ben Aartsen


Ben specialises in advising clients in the energy and infrastructure sectors, with a particular focus on traditional and emerging green technologies supporting energy transition.

Ben’s practice involves advising on a broad range of transactions across the energy value chain acting for sponsors and financial institutions. With a focus on project development, Ben has a wide range of experience that includes construction, procurement, operation and offtake arrangements as well as broader commercial contract negotiations and regulatory matters.

The lenders and ECAs in relation to the development and financing of the H2 Green Steel giga-scale hydrogen and green steel project in Europe.

Automotive Energy Supply Corporation (AESC) in relation to the development and financing of a 9GWh battery gigafactory in France.

Marinus Link in relation to the development of a telecommunications interconnector between Tasmania and Victoria, Australia. (previous firm experience).

Edify Energy in relation to the development and financing of battery energy storage systems in Australia. (previous firm experience).

EnergyCo in relation to the development of network infrastructure within the Central?West Orana Renewable Energy Zone in New South Wales, Australia. (previous firm experience).
