Alexander advises on complex commercial disputes and investigations, particularly related to the construction, mining, energy and resources sectors.

He has experience with matters in international arbitration under various institutional rules and litigation before the UAE and Australian Courts. 

Prior to moving the UAE, Alexander worked in the A&O Shearman Perth office advising on domestic litigation and international arbitration matters.

Alexander was a finalist in the Australian Lawyers Weekly 30 under 30 Awards 2024 (Dispute Resolution and Litigation) and the Australian Disputes Centre Awards 2022 (Under 30 ADR Practitioner of the Year).

  • A state-owned entity in expert determination proceedings relating to construction and prolongation claims. 
  • A multinational oil and gas company on USD3bn worth of disputes to be resolved via ICC arbitration seated in Singapore, relating to the construction of an onshore LNG project.
  • Two related Australian mining companies on domestic gas price reviews, and future gas sale agreement negotiations.
  • A multinational oil and gas company on a multi-billion dollar insurance dispute in the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
  • An APAC government in relation to an investment treaty dispute raised under multiple treaties.

Pro bono

  • Advising a Law Access Referral client in State Administrative Tribunal proceedings in relation to a Dangerous Dog Declaration against the client’s Scottish Terrier.
  • Advising a non-profit organisation committed to supporting animal welfare assessing comparable laws, standards and regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Advising a Law Access Referral client in District Court proceedings relation to a contractual dispute over the purchase of shares in mining equipment.
