Alex advises on international commercial disputes and corporate advisory matters with a focus on energy, oil & gas, and mining sectors. She was previously the Associate to the Hon. Justice Hall in the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
Alex is fluent in English, Mandarin and Spanish. Her multilingual capabilities allow her to deliver precise, culturally informed and commercially effective advice to a diverse, international client base.

Experience

Representative matters

  • INPEX on a multi-billion dollar insurance dispute in the Supreme Court of Western Australia arising from damage to paint and insulation systems on the Ichthys LNG Plant. 
    IGO, in relation to a mining royalty dispute in the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
  • Mineral Resources on its compliance with Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission’s (ACIC) new Access Agreement and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) in relation to the management of police check certificates of employees.
  • Kwinana WtE Project Co on the establishment and implementation of a comprehensive security of critical infrastructure risk management and compliance framework.
  • BHP Billiton on limited use provisions outlined in the Cyber Security Act 2024 (Cth).
  • Ad hoc advice to a leading participant in the energy sector on cybersecurity and security of critical infrastructure (SOCI) matters.
  • Global Advanced Metals on the sale of royalty interests and creation of new secured tin revenue sharing agreement.
  • QBE Group Services on incident response plans, structure and approach, and training of key teams, executives and board members. Provided support for a Hong Kong based incident with notification issues in Hong Kong and Australia.
  • A national medical recruitment agency in connection with a cyber security incident, including notification obligations and regulatory compliance under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and applicable guidelines issued by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. 

Pro bono

  • Advising vulnerable clients in preparing applications for humanitarian stay visas under the Minister's discretionary powers through the Refugee Advice and Casework Service’s (RACS) Ministerial Intervention Program.
  • Volunteering at the Salvation Army Beacon facility through the Restorative Life Program to assist people experiencing homelessness preparing for job interviews and making a good first impression.
  • Assisted Validity with research concerning the rights of women and girls with disabilities in Kenya and Moldova to inform two country-level shadow reports submitted to the UN CEDAW Committee.
