A&O Shearman strengthens executive compensation and incentives offering with partner addition of Louise Batty

A&O Shearman announces that Louise Batty will join the firm as a partner in January 2026. Louise, who joins from Skadden having previously been counsel at legacy Allen & Overy, focuses on executive compensation, incentives, and remuneration across the corporate lifecycle—from listed companies to high-growth enterprises and start-ups.

She advises on the design and day-to-day operation of incentive arrangements; cross-border governance and regulatory compliance; and high-profile senior personnel matters, including executive appointments and departures. She also brings substantial experience advising acquirers and target companies on the incentives implications of corporate events and M&A.

“Louise’s arrival reflects our continued investment in high-demand, cross-border advisory areas where clients need deep technical knowledge and practical judgment”

“Her experience at the intersection of governance, regulation, and transactions will add immediate value for clients across industries.”

“Clients consistently look for market-based and international perspectives on incentives and remuneration—particularly in complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions,” added Mahesh. “Louise’s track record advising on transformative deals and sensitive executive matters enhances our global offering.”

“I am excited to join A&O Shearman at this pivotal time,” Louise said. “I look forward to working with colleagues across the firm to help clients navigate the evolving incentives landscape, board and investor expectations, and the demands of cross-border corporate activity.”

Louise is recognized in The Legal 500 UK, where clients describe her as an “expert in her field,” “efficient, responsive and solution driven,” and “a go-to lawyer for any queries.” She is an active member of the Share Plan Lawyers Group and serves on its Corporate Governance Committee.

Her hire reflects the continued expansion of the firm’s global incentives practice, following the hire of Mahesh Varia in January.
