A&O Shearman secures significant victory for PURIS in high-stakes non-compete litigation
A&O Shearman secured a sweeping early victory for PURIS LLC, a market leader in water pipeline rehabilitation and replacement for municipalities, in high-stakes non-compete litigation.

Following expedited discovery and multiple hearings, a Florida federal court granted preliminary injunctions that not only enforced a non compete agreement against PURIS' former chief executive but also enjoined a third party competing business with whom the former executive had become a “silent partner.”

This decisive preliminary injunction protects PURIS from ongoing unlawful competition, equipping PURIS with a judicial finding of substantial likelihood of success on its claims at trial.

The A&O Shearman team is led by U.S. co-head of Commercial Litigation, Thad Behrens in close partnership with U.S. head of Private Equity, Alain Dermarkar, Corporate partner Kyle Park, and included counsel Matt McGee and associates Jacob Fields, Carter Gantt, Danielle Vorbrodt, and Efren Lemus.
