A&O Shearman guides on USD2 billion syndicated loan for Africa Finance Corporation

A&O Shearman advised on a USD2bn syndicated loan for Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), a leading infrastructure solutions provider on the African continent.

The landmark financing attracted strong interest from a broad syndicate of international lenders and represents the largest syndicated loan raised by AFC to date. The proceeds will support AFC’s strategy of delivering critical infrastructure projects across Africa, including in the energy, transport, and industrial sectors, and further underscores growing investor confidence in long-term infrastructure platforms across the region.

“This syndicated loan demonstrates international investor confidence in AFC’s platform and the increasing demand for scalable capital to support infrastructure development across Africa. We are pleased to have advised on a transaction that strengthens AFC’s capacity to deliver transformational projects across the continent.”

The A&O Shearman team was led by London-based Energy and Infrastructure partner Mitch Olufawo, associate Patricia Kongoasa, and trainee Callum Donnelly. Additional support was provided by London-based arbitration partner Guled Yusuf and associate Godwin Tan.
