OX2 has completed the sale of the 77 MW Urleasca wind project in Romania to the Norwegian renewable investor: Scatec ASA, marking its third completed transaction in the country and another key milestone in its continued growth in the Romanian market. The project forms part of OX2's expanding Romanian development and construction portfolio, which currently comprises approximately 1.5 GW of renewable energy projects.

Located in south-eastern Romania, the wind farm has secured a long-term Contract-for-Difference (CfD) with the Romanian State and benefits from a grid connection agreement with Romania's transmission system operator, Transelectrica. Once operational, the project is expected to generate approximately 244 GWh of renewable electricity annually, equivalent to the power consumption of around 71,000 households, while avoiding approximately 101,000 tonnes of CO₂-equivalent emissions each year.

Following the transaction, OX2 will remain closely involved in the project and will oversee the construction phase through to commissioning, which is scheduled for the second half of 2028.

The transaction further demonstrates OX2's ability to originate, develop and successfully realise renewable energy projects in one of Europe's most active and attractive energy transition markets, while continuing to attract leading international investors to Romania’s renewables sector.

A&O Shearman advised OX2 on all legal aspects of the transaction. The team was led by counsel Kamil Jankielewicz and included Farah el Yacoubi, Antoni Roszkowski, Maria Kania and Daria Bogucka.

“We are delighted to have supported OX2 on another successful transaction in Romania. The deal reflects both the continued strength of the Romanian renewable energy market and OX2's ability to develop high-quality projects that attract leading international investors. We are proud to have assisted OX2 in further strengthening its position in one of Europe's most dynamic renewable energy markets.”
