Stephanie advises clients on regulatory strategy and implementation, risk, compliance and culture matters. She works with boards, senior managers, and heads of control functions to develop comprehensive and practical solutions to key regulatory and compliance issues across the UK, Europe and the US. 

Stephanie supports financial services and corporate clients across a wide range of issues including individual accountability and conduct, regulatory authorisation and mobilisation, financial crime, risk management, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I). Drawing on her previous experience at the FCA, Stephanie helps clients to manage the complexities of evolving regulatory landscapes, design and implement effective governance and control frameworks, and foster positive cultures.

Prior to joining A&O Consulting, Stephanie spent three years in supervisory, enforcement and authorisations roles at the Financial Conducty Authority. Her work included assessing matters for referral to enforcement investigation across retail sector, financial crime and asset management, overseeing Skilled Person reviews, supervising firms at risk of failing, and assessing authorisation applications for firms and individuals.

Experience

Representative matters

Conducting a large-scale review of a Tier 1 bank's implementation of SMCR and governance structures across all UK entities, including the allocation of Senior Manager responsibilities.

Supporting a large global bank through a regulatory investigation into its financial crime controls, assessing the effectiveness of the controls against legal and regulatory requirements.

Conducting a review of the governance and risk management controls of a newly-established bank against mobilisation requirements, including controls frameworks, operational resilience, recovery and resolution planning, and corporate governance structure.

Undertaking a culture review of the Irish subsidiary of a US bank, including conducting in-person focus groups, to identify key cultural strengths, opportunities for improvement, and suggested remedial actions.

Supporting a global US bank in developing the response to a US regulatory following concerns in relation to its AML framework, including developing a remediation plan for an end-to-end review of the framework and transaction monitoring controls.

Drafting a suite of policies for a newly merged European corporate, covering key areas including Conflicts of Interest, Whistleblowing, Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption, Outsourcing, and Antitrust.

Pro bono

Advising an international children’s charity on the development of performance management and behavioural frameworks.
