Arlia has experience across a broad range of financing transactions, including general corporate lending (acting for borrowers and lenders), leverage and acquisition financing, real estate financing, and has also assisted on preference share funding transactions.
Arlia joined the team from a large South African law firm in 2022.

Experience

Representative matters

The Arrangers (Standard Bank of South Africa, Stanbic Kenya and Stanbic Uganda) and lenders (Stanbic Kenya, Stanbic Uganda, BII, Lion's Head, Nithio, SunFunder, FMO and IFC and DFC) on two local currency and USD receivables-based secured syndicated credit facilities to be provided to operating companies in Kenya and Uganda and guaranteed by related companies from the United Kingdom and Delaware United States. The Facilities included a sustainability-linked margin ratchet and reporting requirements relating to several sustainability and development goals.

Pick ‘n Pay Group on its and capital restructure involving a broad group on investment banks and financial institutions.

Identity Property Co/ Identity Property Fund, a women-led investment company, in respect of its ZAR 1.3 billion acquisition of The Campus (an office complex situated in northern Johannesburg) from Dimension Data, and the procurement of funds from Dimension Data to fund the acquisition (previous firm experience).
