Veronika Havlova

Veronika advises across the UK, EU, and US on strategic and practical elements of navigating regulatory challenges.
Her clients are predominantly financial services firms, including banks and asset managers, and a number of corporates. 

In particular, Veronika has deep experience advising clients on financial crime, regulatory, compliance, and corporate governance matters. Her advice is pragmatic, and considers local expectations, as well as global context. 

She has experience advising clients on strategic, forward-looking change, such as driven by regulatory reform, as well as working closely with clients to deliver large-scale transformation and remediation projects. 

She is actively involved in anti-financial crime working groups across the firm, and is closely involved with growing the Consulting AML practice.

Representative matters

Advising a large Tier 1 Bank on its approach to preparing for incoming AML legislative change across Europe and the impact on its operations.

Advising a Tier 1 Bank on required enhancements of its process related to regulatory reporting.

Conducting an AML Framework assessment for a European bank.

Reviewing the Financial Crime Framework for a UK regulated firm.

Preparing policies (including AML, Sanctions, Gifts and Entertainment, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, and Tax Evasion) and Codes of Conduct for a range of clients across the US, UK, Europe, and Middle East.

Reviewing the design of senior management oversight of its Financial Crime function, and the level of Board-level interaction with Financial Crime matters.

Advising a Tier 1 Bank on managing tax evasion facilitation risk, and implementing a multijurisdictional risk management framework.

Supporting the enforcement investigation of a major global bank in the UK, and assessing the effectiveness of its policies and procedures against contemporaneous legislative and regulatory requirements, and industry practice.

Preparing senior financial crime management for regulatory approval interviews.

Designing Board and Executive-level governance processes for a pre-IPO client.

Providing comprehensive governance support to the Company Secretariat of an FCA-regulated firm.

Supporting a major European bank’s development of a comprehensive global sanctions programme (previous firm experience).

A secondment to a major European bank to support an extensive remediation programme following enforcement (previous firm experience).
